Waseem Sallam
My name is Waseem Sallam, a painter of Libyan origin, born on 2/10/1985. My journey in painting has been one of exploration and expression, creating a unique space for myself within the world of contemporary art. My Libyan heritage deeply influences my work, but through a modern lens I interpret and present my paintings.
My approach to painting revolves around the philosophy of visual art. Visual art is more than just what the eye sees; it is the language of the soul. Through my work, I strive to engage the viewer on multiple levels, challenging perceptions and inviting deep contemplation. For me, each painting is an opportunity to connect with feelings and thoughts that words alone cannot convey.
I have had the honor of exhibiting my paintings in four different exhibitions throughout Nijmegen, a city that has become an integral part of my artistic journey. Currently, my work is on display at the Dukenburg Library in Zwanenveld, an experience that allows me to share my vision with a wider audience.
My paintings are a reflection of my world, where every brushstroke, every shadow, every texture is part of a larger story. I believe that art should not only be seen but also felt, resonating with those who view it, and leaving a lasting impression long after they are gone.

The maze of life
The maze of life with all its complexities and ramifications is at odds with reality and time. When you choose the destination, you want to take, the paths of life deviate from you, the distance exhausts you and they all collide with each other, leaving you confused and afraid to follow a path that you cannot know when this unknown path, bound for our destiny, will end.

The icon of the eleventh dimension
The eleventh dimension is one of the things the mind stops in order to analyze and imagine. This theory states that the universe is nothing but a symphony of vibrating superstrings, so the universe is nothing but a musical performance.

The Earth transformation
A most mysterious formative stage that transcends all minds and tells us that no created being exists without a creator. Just as this painting did not exist without me, neither did the earth, the absolute truth.

“I’m not a Negro, Cézanne.”
The reality of muy torment, despite my pain and wounds, took advantage of my sad scene devoid of humanity. I return to you today in my new look and tell you that I am free on earth and under the sun there is a law that protects me and a God that has mercy on me. I am free, Cézanne. You lost and I won.
