Nilofar Niekpor Zamani
Nilofar Niekpor Zamani is an Afghan documentary photographer who has been living in the Netherlands since 2021. She earned her bachelor’s degree in photography from Kabul University and is currently pursuing a degree in International Social Work, which enriches her understanding of social issues.
For three years, she focused on documentary photography in Afghanistan, specifically highlighting the taboo activities of Afghan women. Over a span of seven years, she collaborated with various Afghan media outlets, gaining invaluable experience capturing dynamic events and incidents throughout the country.
Nilofar’s work has been showcased in both group and solo exhibitions, both in Afghanistan and internationally. Notable exhibitions include “Parts of a Hidden Life” at Kabul University, the UNICEF exhibition for the “30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child”, and a solo exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands in 2022.
Her compelling work has garnered multiple awards, including first place at the UN Afghanistan 2020 for “Dedgah Zan”, top winner in the UNESCO 2020 category for Music and Dance, and recognition from the British Embassy Kabul in 2017 for Education of Children (Top Ten) and GIZ for The Civil Peace Service (Top Ten).
In addition, Nilofar is a member of Sahar Speaks and Everyday Projects, nonprofit organizations dedicated to journalism and photography.
