Fariba Katebifar

Fariba was born and raised in Iran (Tehran) besides her profession as a lawyer, she has been working as a graphic designer, photographer and digital artist for a long time. With both digital artworks and drawings, she has previously exhibited.

In the Netherlands, Fariba was inspired by Vincent van Gogh. Whereas Van Gogh was influenced by Japanese art in some paintings, Fariba saw how Van Gogh’s skies, for example, reflect ancient Persian motifs.

Besides painting and other creative forms, Fariba devotes much attention to photography and graphic design. She is an employee of the Dar al Yasmin Foundation and, among other things, involved in the Your Nijmegen project, in which newcomers give their image of Nijmegen through photography. Fariba is also part of Dar al Yasmin’s entrepreneurial community.

Persia meets Van Gogh

These three paintings have the theme of combining the style of painting in Persian poetry books with Van Gogh’s painting.

I tried to use paintings by old Iranian painters that are related to the subject of Van Gogh’s painting. Of course, I made some changes depending on the painting space.

Windows on Van Gogh

The first one is two buildings and between them we have a thatched building and two windows. Behind the first window is the thatched buildings of Iran.

The second window of Van Goghs yellow house.
And in the next two drawings, each window is drawn from the inside view.

The last one is still a work in progress. But I wanted you to show it for feedback .

Persian sky

Van Gogh has a particular style in imagining the sky. With big curls or with stars. Traditional Persian painting fits this style very well.

The front of the painting is a typical Brabant landscape with people and crows. The road to the horizon leads to a Persian atmosphere.
