Dennis Spaine
Dennis Spaine – Painter and Radio broadcaster
Dennis Spaine (Sierra Leone, 1974) is originally an (international) journalist. However, he has been painting since he was 14 and has since experimented with various painting styles.
Spaine has travelled extensively in his life and worked as a bartender and cocktail shaker, among other things. That’s where the term cocktail painting he coined himself comes from. In exhibitions, he mixes several styles, such as abstract, figurative and fashion, and works with various materials including oil, acrylic and watercolour.
When he paints, he forgets his worries and can take his mind off his daily life in the AZC. Dennis gets inspiration for his paintings from the trips he has made, contact with locals and European painting.
Dennis Spaine initiated the channel Crystal Radio. He invites individuals to join their community collaboration initiative. With a focus on rural development, the organization aims to address various pressing issues like poverty, agriculture, gender inequality, education, and social problems through locally-driven programming.
Crystal Radio also promotes youth empowerment, capacity building, and information exchange to tackle social challenges and foster livelihood changes. At this moment Crystal Radio, because of lack of a studio, broadcasts non-stop African music with live radio during special events.
